"How to get there"

Travelling from the south there are two main roads into Scotland. The A(M)74 and the A1(M).

The A(M)74. (Via Glasgow/Stirling) On leaving the A(M)74 you must follow the M73 signposted Cumbernauld / Stirling. This will join with the A80 dual carriageway to bypass Cumbernauld. You then take the M80 signposted Stirling. From Stirling you take the A9 to Perth.

The A1(M). (Via Stirling) This road brings you into Scotland on the east side of the country via Edinburgh. Again there is a choice to be made as to the best way North. You can either travel to Stirling via the M9 or direct via the M90 to Perth.

via Perth and the A9
Take the by-pass round Edinburgh and at the Newbridge roundabout take signs for the FORTH BRIDGE (toll). On crossing the Forth Bridge you are then on the M90 signposted Perth. At Perth you must take the bypass and follow the signs for Inverness and The North. When you have passed Perth you are now on the A9 signposted Dalwhinnie/Inverness/The North.

FROM ABERDEEN.
Leaving Aberdeen you follow the signs for Inverness ( A96).Although passing through many towns, this is a relatively straight drive through to Inverness with the road being well signposted.

FROM INVERNESS.

From Inverness follow the A9 North to Wick. The A9 takes you over the Kessock Bridge and the Cromarty Bridge.  When you cross the Cromarty Bridge, turn right at the roundabout and take the A9 North. Take the first turn left to Evanton village. In the centre of the village take the first turn left. At the end of this road you see a small church. Before you get to this road turn left and follow the signpost Swordale. Now you are on Swordale Road where West Lodge is located (after 4 miles). West Lodge Cottage is located next to Sworedale House.
